Now, with a one of a kind dedicated approach to providing environmentally responsible building supplies, we continue as the “Premier Provider of Building Supplies for Professionals”! We believe the trend towards the use of environmentally responsible building supplies, both residential and commercial, is only at the beginning of its growth curve. Certified wood, low VOC, rapidly renewable materials, and products with high recycled content are only but a few of the categories we can accommodate, and the services we offer. With the launch of our facility, in Hanson Massachusetts , our commitment is further solidified. Our Hanson Location is now undergoing extensive renovations with a design intent to become the first recognized LEED Building Supply Facility in North America . Our project is registered as a “LEED EB ( Existing Building ) O&M (Operations and Maintenance)”. This means we will minimize expanding upon the existing footprint of our retail building and upgrade our dry storage sheds with cutting edge technology. We will utilize solar panels to facilitate a net zero in energy consumption. Operations and maintenance will be overhauled to minimize waste, implement onsite recycling practices, and we will coordinate and dispatch all deliveries to reduce carbon emissions. In today's turbulent economic climate, most consumers will buy either very economically priced products or, building materials that will make a difference and upgrade the value of their projects. With “Green” awareness gaining increased importance at an accelerating pace, New England Lumber is convinced that in the next 5 to 10 years, those houses and commercial buildings with no features focusing on environmental conservation, energy savings, renewable energy, or environmentally responsible building products, will be more difficult to sell or lease and will be considerably less valuable than those properties which have recognized and embraced the importance of sustainable building practices. By investing heavily in our certified wood product offerings, as well as many other unique sustainable products, and through our commitment to this initiative, we hope to set new industry standards that “ Green Building ” is not a trend nor a commodity to be profited from but, a responsibility to our future. A commitment like this is sure to minimize the upfront cost that discourages so many from building responsibly.
